So we have an abundance of strawberries in our fridge and Ifelt like french toast this morning. We have no maple syrup so what is better than making some strawberry sauce???
Its super duper easy, just follow these easy steps!
(its works on ice cream, waffles, pancakes, cheesecake and many more ;))
2C fresh or frozen Strawberries
1TBSP Sugar (optional)
1TBSP Corn Starch
-add strawberries to a sauce pan and add enough water to cover only half of the strawberries. Use less water if using frozen berries.
– Turn element on to Med and bring to a simmer
-Add the sugar and mix well
-If you like it chunky keep stirring otherwise, use a potato masher or blender to make it smoother.
– Take a few spoonfuls of the water in the pot and put into a small bowl. Add the cornstarch and stir until there are no white chunks.
– add the cornstarch mixture back into the pot of simmering strawberries
– Let it simmer until you have the desired consistency.
Remember that it does thicken as it cools and that you can add more cornstarch.
Its really that easy.
You can do this with any type of berry. Ive even tried it with apples I just add nutmeg and cinnamon.
For a sugar substitute use honey.
